Naturally, bicarbonate-containing water (e.g. well water) is called natural alkaline water. Its pH level is higher than normal. Normally the pH level of tap water or bottled water ranges from 6.4 to 7.4. Whereas, the pH level of alkaline water is 8.8. It can help relieve the problem of acid reflux (acidity). Research on alkaline water based on rats has also been found to be beneficial for health.
The research, published on the site of NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information), also states that it can improve a person’s ability to live life and time by overcoming many physical problems. Considering these advantages of alkaline water, by adding electrolytes (some essential minerals) in normal water, water has been converted into alkaline water and used.
